The Diploma in Digital Media was approved by the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurial Training Authority (TEVETA) of the Republic of Zambia on 8th August 2013 at level 6 on the National Framework. The validation and approval of the programme by TEVETA is the foundation stone for the introduction of the programme in Evelyn Hone College. Many people in BCFE, EHC and TEVETA worked in collaboration and achieving this milestone on target was a significant achievement for all involved.
In August 2012 a Stakeholders Consultative Conference in Lusaka was organised by Evelyn Hone College. This initiated the process and created an enabling framework for completion of the work within a relatively short timeframe. During September and October 2013 six BCFE teachers, Vivienne Trulock-Hardy, Alan Costello, Denise Moylan, John Hartnett, Liam Caffrey and John Moriarty contributed enormously to the project by drafting the programme outline and writing eighteen modules.
In October 2012 a Digital Media Curriculum Workshop was held in Lusaka. Over five days members of staff from TEVETA, EHC and BCFE collaborated on developing the Job Profile and the Chart Document for the new programme. Detailed syllabus documents were then drawn up by teachers in BCFE. Validation of the programme took place in May 2013 at a TEVETA Workshop where the programme was presented by Mr Michael Mumba, EHC, supported by Mr Daddy Chilala, MUVI TV. Final approval was given at the TEVETA Board Meeting in August 2013. The three year Diplom is now available to all TEVETA colleges, if they met the requirements of TEVETA. Initially it will run in EHC commencing in 2014.
